Assistant Coach A coach is a basic level coach who helps coach players and assists the team manager with his or her duties of running the team. Each team is set up differently and some coaches may wish to take on more responsibilities than coaches on other teams.

Are you interested in helping out your team or the league this season? Whether that's a team safety officer, team parent, alternate/substitute coach, batting practice coach, field prep guru — every team (and the league in general) can use a hand to run effectively. No job is too small. Check with your team manager (or contact a board member) to see how you can help today.

There is a quick and easy registration on the league website for you to complete. Once completed, you'll be notified by the official screening partner of Little League® International, JDP. All volunteers go through this simple screening process for the safety of the players. Some of you might say, "why do I need to fill this out? I'm only going to be keeping score." If there is even the most remote possibility of coming into contact with underage participants — which is a very realistic scenario if you ever set foot on one of the many CSLL baseball facilities — then the screening must be done. It might be a little bit of an inconvenience, but just try to keep in mind that it's for the kids — YOUR kids.

Think of it like when you go to the grocery store and you pay for your items with a credit card, and then the clerk asks you to enter your PIN for your credit card. It’s kind of annoying and you remember how nice it was back in the good old days when you could slide your card though and just be done with the purchase, but in the grand scheme of things it is much safer for you now as the credit card holder if your PIN is entered because that ensures the safety and legitimacy of the transaction. Such is the way with the volunteer screening process: the more thoroughly the volunteers are vetted, the safer the players are, and the better of league we are as a whole.

If you have a manager who is offering a role for you but you have not yet registered, you cannot do that job until you register. Please understand and participate in the registration and screening process when volunteering. You will be happy that you did.

Manager/Coach Selection

The Selection Process Explained — Managers

AAA and Majors Divisions

All potential managers must have registered themselves through CSLL website, answered all questions and have uploaded their Volunteer Form (done during registration process). Be sure to choose Manager under the correct division you are applying for and be sure to indicate manager on volunteer form.

Once you’ve registered, your application will be reviewed by the Manager Selection Committee.
Managers are selected using three criteria points- Experience, Past volunteerism, and Positive Coaching Feedback.
Once you’ve been approved you will receive an email from a Committee member.
If you are applying as a first time Manager in CSLL, you may receive a interview call from a Manager Selection Committee member.

Tee-Ball, Single-A, and Double-A Divisions

Same application process as AAA and majors.
Every season we are generally short on Tee Ball and Single A managers. If we don’t have enough mangers for each team. The Manager Selection Committee will contact parents from the division asking for a volunteer to assume a team.
If you are applying as a first time Manager in CSLL, you may receive a interview call from a Manager Selection Committee member.

Please note: We don’t know how many managers we will need until player registration is near completion. Please remember that just because you have registered and were approved as a manager, does not mean that you are guaranteed to get a team.

Screening Process

Background Checks for All Volunteers

All volunteers — coaches, managers, safety officers, etc. — must have background check performed. New for this season we are using an online system endorsed by Little League® International. You will receive an email form JDP inviting you to a five-minute questionnaire.

Who is JDP?: JDP is the provider of background checks used by Little League International.

Please be on the lookout for this email after registering yourself as a volunteer as it sometimes looks like spam.

Note that you will not be able to step on a field or interact with any underage players until the background check has been completed, so please be sure to finish all of the steps to avoid any delays.
