Why the change from LeagueToolbox to Blue Sombrero?

Great question. Capitola-Soquel Little League strives to stay modern in an era where technology changes faster than the blink of an eye. An example of this might be what we've got going on in the Snack Shack with our elaborate point-of-sale systems powered by iPads with the ability to accept credit cards, or how we have live game streaming to the internet.

The previous website, powered by LeagueToolbox, was a great system in its day. CSLL went from a very antiquated, hand-coded website to LeagueToolbox back in 2012. At that time, this was a huge upgrade and a welcome change, as data management and information sharing was made light years simpler when compared to the previous website structure. Over the past seven seasons, many of you league veterans may have gotten used to LeagueToolbox and the way that it functions as a registration management and website system. While the internet was a far different place back in 2012, LeagueToolbox hasn't changed and adapted to the times at a pace that suits our league and its constituents. LeagueToolbox lacks many of the basic features and compatibility required of a modern website and information hub.

We have no reason to speak negatively of LeagueToolbox, and it worked for CSLL for a while. Unfortunately, LeagueToolbox was bought-out by a larger parent company several years ago. The parent company promised enhancements and upgrades to the LeagueToolbox system — enhancements and upgrades that never came to fruition for whatever reason. Blue Sombrero, powered by DICK'S Sporting Goods, is the modern website and information system of choice for thousands of other baseball and youth sports leagues. It is also supported by and synced to Little League® International. It is compatible with mobile devices, the administrative tasks are simpler, and there are other great benefits that are too numerous to put here. Hopefully you will be able to discover these great features soon!

CSLL understands that this change may ruffle your feathers a little bit and that there might be a bit of a learning curve to adapt to the new setup. We are confident that the switch to the new system will be beneficial to all league members and continue to get easier to use over time.
